The offered binaries on this site are build from the official BOINC Sources, which are available via SVN.
The Linux, FreeBSD and OpenBSD binaries has not needed any source code changes. For HP-UX, NetBSD and Solaris only small changes at the source was needed. The changed sources are documented in the binary package in opt/boinc/doc/README.boinc...
Please read the Installation instructions and the readme which are included in the package in /opt/boinc/doc before you installing the package.
The BOINC client packages did not contain any science applications. So you have got to download and install the science applications separately. Please look at the BOINC Links for the supported projects for your platform. SETI@home Enhanced Multibeam and Astropulse applications are also available from me and my friends on the SETI@home download site.
